Around the house: the sewing studio

Continuing our tour around our little home in Dunedin, today's stop is my sewing studio. Calling it a studio is perhaps a bit grand for it's diminutive size, but compared to the closet I was sewing in back in Burnaby, this room is a palace. I have enough space to do all of my work in here and it's also the easiest room in the house to heat, so it's a very cozy space as well.

    1. Everyone should have peg board in their sewing room. Seriously, it is a fabulous way to organize things when you don't have heaps of space.

  3. I really like how you've put the pegboard space to such good use. A nice compact studio and it looks so much more inviting than a closet.

    1. Ahhhh...that would be my scrap pile waiting to be sorted. I'm a good way through that pile by now, but it's going to take ages to get through it all. Here's a link to the post in which I talk about how SLOWLY it's going: http://milkybeer.blogspot.co.nz/2013/08/slowly.html

  14. This is brilliant. I'm searching for ideas to organize my non-existant personal sewing space, and the peg board is excellent.....how did you make/where did you get the thread holder....organizing thread and bobbins is my BIGGEST HEADACHE!!!!

    Thanks for sharing!!!!!

    1. I bought the thread holder thingy from a big box craft store - Michael's. I see them all over the place so it shouldn't be hard to track one down. It also comes in a narrower version that would be good to get for bobbins.

  17. I came across your sewing room from Pinterest, and I love it! The part that especially caught my eye is the color wheel pincushion on the pegboard. Did you make or buy it? Is there a tutorial online? It's so colorful and perfect for a creative space!
