These last few days...

My little girl flew back to BC this morning with her grandma. I'm supposed to be finishing up the packing and cleaning the house like a mad woman now that we don't have a little one to entertain at home - at least that was the idea behind flying Abner home a few days early. Instead I'm looking through photos of her last few days in Regina. Some amazing memories were created these last few days...

Graduating from preschool (and looking adorable in her vintage dress, I might add!)

Looking so much bigger than her first day at school.

Getting crafty with cardboard since mommy packed all the toys too early.

Learning to use power tools.

One last chance to show a little Rider pride!

Getting a few last kisses in before a few days' separation.

Finally getting to see Grandma!

Trying not to worry about the ominous weather.

Packed up and set to go.

Saying goodbye to the Prairies...monkey in hand.

One last Prairie project

It's hard to believe, but Abner leaves Regina in exactly one week [a few days ahead of me and The Dear Sweet Husband]. I can't let her go without a little something handmade by mama so I whipped up a new toiletry bag just for her. She chose the fabrics - all I had to do was make it large enough to hold all her hair products.

Carnival time!

Probably should have been packing, but instead Abner and I trucked off to the carnival this weekend. The little one has no fear and loved every minute of it. For me it was like a walk down memory lane - these are the same amusement rides that used to come to my hometown during stampede each year. Though some of the ride names have changed, I'm pretty sure the Alien Attack ride is the same Gravitron I puked next to in 1993. Good times.

Baking soda facial scrub

The other night I was struck with the idea to use baking soda as a facial scrub. Don't know where the idea came from, but I tried it and it was incredible - my skin was so smooth and wonderfully clean feeling!

To try it yourself, simply mix 1-2 tbsp baking soda with a bit of warm water in the palm of your hand. Gently scrub your face in a circular motion and rinse thoroughly.

I tend to have sensitive skin, so to me, this felt like a pretty deep clean. I don't want to over do it, so I think I'll only do a full scrub once a week or so. For more frequent cleaning, I'm going to try adding just a small amount (less than a teaspoon) to my regular cleanser for just a slight bit of exfoliation on a daily basis.

One more thing to move

The moving truck arrives in less than three weeks - the perfect time to get a new cutting table, right? Did I mention it's gotta be one of the heaviest tables I've ever seen? Yeah...I might be crazy. What can I say, it was free, it's bright orange and The Dear Sweet Husband didn't stop me. How could I say no?

A new dress for Abner

::

It's taken a while, but I finally got around to making my popular reversible dress in a size big enough for preschoolers. My list of orders is already long, but Abner was pretty excited to get the first one to come out of my sewing room. So excited, she didn't even mind posing for a few photos. [Well, she didn't seem to mind for the first 50 or so...I may have been pushing my luck at 76.]
